Marlene Marimbe

Marlene is an entrepreneurial energy professional with sixteen years’ experience in renewable energy project development. She has worked on a wide range of renewable energy and environmental management projects (both in the public and private sectors) in UK, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Uganda and Pakistan.

She has undertaken energy market analysis to inform the future development and uptake of renewable energy technologies, particularly in the context of decentralised power generation. Working with local planning authorities and government agencies, Marlene has developed planning policy and guidance to support the increased contribution of renewables in power generation. She has also produced technical renewable energy training material e.g. on behalf of SNV Zimbabwe as part of the Rural Solar Market Development Programme.

In particular, Marlene has developed renewable energy projects (solar and wind) seeing them through the planning process, negotiating land deals and managing inputs of various consultants to realise bankable projects. Using this experience and her strong network in Zimbabwe’s energy sector, Marlene is leading Shire Oak International’s business development and building a portfolio of projects in the country.
