Fund management and transactions

The Shire Oak International finance team has completed over USD$5 billion of corporate finance transactions across both the equity and debt markets .

Team members have led John Laing’s renewable energy investment portfolio, delivered Public-Private Partnership (PPP) deals across multiple sectors, developed large-scale project finance projects, and structured sovereign and non-sovereign transactions. The team has a wide-ranging network of relationships with debt and equity financiers as well as with commercial insurers.

Development economics

Shire Oak International team members have deep economic development expertise, and experience in working with the international financial institutions - including the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF). They have taken part in IMF Article IV and Debt Sustainability Assessments, and are thus familiar with the constraints that must be navigated for any projects that might be seen to carry country-specific risk.

The team is experienced in deploying innovative finance instruments that are grounded in governments’ fiscal and budgetary realities, including blended finance mechanisms.

Solar and wind projects

The team at Shire Oak International has broad and deep experience in the renewable energy sector globally, after starting as pioneers in the UK wind energy market in 2002, before moving to pioneer solar energy in Spain in 2008, solar energy in the UK from 2010 and tidal power in the UK from 2012.
